You take the Spartans defense and put it with the Wolverine offense and the state of Michigan would win the national title. Michigan Wolverines defense is ranked 111th and 116th against the pass and I thought a 3-3-5 was just for that purpose. Rich Rodriguez are you kidding me? I have never in all my years of being a Wolverine fan seen a defense this bad. We have had years where our offense stumbled but defense had always been there. I can see it already they will win 1 of the next 5 and end up playing East Carolina in the Home Depot Bowl or something totally unacceptable. Category: NCAAF Tags: Michigan Wolverines
This is when the season begins!Score: 100October 6, 2010 8:03 pm
Denard Robinson and all that Heisman talk will have to be proven now. This is what Michigan Wolverine football is all about. The defense is going to have to start to make plays in order for us to be considered a good football team. The offense will take care of itself but when you are giving up more that 400 yards of total offense per game that isn't going to win the Big Ten. Defense has to start this weekend against Michigan State and continue because we don't go to Chic-Fil-A Bowls we go to Pasadena and play for National Titles and that doesn't happen without defense. As my coach once told me offense sells tickets but defense wins Champioships. Category: NCAAF Tags: Michigan
we're more balanced than you thinkScore: 196October 4, 2010 2:49 pm

Now five games into the season and all the talk is about our dependence on the rushing game and DRob. Most of the dependence on DRob is a function of the way Rodriguez runs the spread offense, meaning most of the dependence is on the QB whether it's DRob or anyone else. So if DRob gets hurt, it's not like we lose all of DRob's productivity. Forcier and/or Gardner will compensate, but likely with a tilt toward passing rather than rushing. Don't get me wrong, I still want DRob running the offense. It's just not the end of the world if he gets hurt. I checked the stats on a few other teams. Michigan's offense is 57% rushing and 43% passing (in terms of yardage). Granted, that's not the 50-50 ratio of Alabama, but it's also not the 66-34 ratio of Nebraska. I watched the Stanford-Oregon game and the announcers talked about the Duck's balanced attack. They are 58% rushing and 42% passing. If Oregon's offense is balanced, then so is Michigan's. And none of those teams is close to Michigan's 73% pass completion stat. We are beating teams on the ground and through the air. Our rushing yards will always be higher than our passing yards when DRob is the QB, but that should be seen as a plus for DRob rather than a negative for our offense. Plus, DRob is still over-throwing 1 or 2 bombs each game; if he's able to get better accuracy on those long throws, we'll be that much more balanced. As good as we've looked, I still think this week's game against the Spartans is critical. It's a home game against a rival that has beaten us the last two years. More importantly, it's the first game against a ranked team. A win here and Michigan can finally talk about being back for real. A loss will quickly have people talking about how this is simply a repeat of last year and Rodriguez goes right back on the hot seat. Robinson continues to impress the college world with another dominating preformance over Notre Dame on saturday. He broke the school record again for most rushing yards in a game with 258; many coming from a 87 yrd keeper late in the second quarter. Robinson also went 24-40 for 248 yards in the air. With this display it does begin to beg the question is Michigan really just a one man show or will they be able to diversify over the next 3 weeks against minor oppents. Looking into a possible 5-0 start going into the Michigan State game I am hoping to see more the pass offence and inclusion of the running backs for the rush yards. Time to take pressure off of Robinson prove you are a true duel threat, and not just a rushing machine. Category: NCAAF Tags: Michigan
Nice Offensive PerformanceScore: 72September 5, 2010 10:15 am
It was a one man show yesyerday with Denard Robinson putting up over 350 yards of offense by himself. Shoelace beat UConn by himself. It was a very impressive performance but a couple of things stood out to me and one was the secondary and lack of pass rush that we get on the QB. I know it was the first game of the season so I am hoping to see alot of improvement in order for this team to make any kind of run in the Big Ten with teams like Ohio State, Wisconsin, Iowa and Penn State.
